Savage customer service (tech) says that the 250 and 300 Savage both
have 1 in 10" rifling. The person could not tell me if or when the Savage website would be updated to show correct rifling twist. Given the expense and procedures for changing something on a production website, I doubt the change will happen soon. The person said it is new for 2009.
KyWindage, I agree isn't a twist rate of 1-14" a little slow for modern 250 Savage (100gr)?
Maybe I'm missing something here, but if you are going for the nostalgia of shooting a 250/3000, why not
accept the nostalgia of shooting a 250/3000, and deal with the 1-14 twist? ...
The topic subject is
A Modern rifle using the 250 Savage IMHO that means a modern rifling twist.
KyWindage, not singling you out. Concept seems like ordering a Model 70 in 45/70, then lamenting that standard ammo manufacturers do not load 45/70 cartridges with full metal jacket bullets at 2000fps. OBTW, the M1920 and M99 are modern rifles.

For someone also shooting 60-75gr bullets, 1:14 would not be bad.
The thread interests me because I went through the same search for a 250Sav at the beginning of this year. My solution was a new M70 USRAC. Discontinued, it was the last one on the shelf of the supplier to my favorite local dealer. A 25WSSM, I intended to reload to milder 250 Savage levels. OP does not reload, not an option. Boring way to go; I should'a bought a $60 strap-on cheek piece for a scoped M1920, and been done with it. Regardless, I felt OP's pain.
