I know this is not what was asked but I would also at least consider looking at other makers. High Country Knives sure makes some damn good looking blades... they are pricey but again, if you are talking "one and done," I would not let a few $100 get in the way of getting what you really like the best.

You can't go wrong with either of Winston or Ingram. Both are great makers, making high quality knives, and are a pleasure to deal with. I think the choice comes down to which model you like best...if you can narrow it down to one! I think Mr. Winston and his son have the best quality to cost ration going and make it from order to your hand quicker than most makers....that being said, and even if cost is a consideration, find the model (by either maker) you like the best and go with it....you pay once and the knife will last the rest of your life.

Actually, the best option is to pick the Winston you want, order it, get it quickly, and put it to use...then order the Ingram you want and save up for it while you're waiting....win/win!

Dave makes a fine knife as does Gene. I've a few examples of each and comparing various aspects side by side find them pretty dang equal.
Come down to patterns/ergos preferences ,IMO.

His fine motor skills have lots of age. I assure you we are all getting rich. Get on guys list sooner or later you will get one. If you dont like it sell it more than likely you may get more than you paid for it.

I did not see anyone complain or b$tch about the price of custom knives. Maybe you are getting rich or maybe your not. One thing is for certain though. It matters not a dog chit to me or anyone else that has given me advice on this thread.

I don't care who taught who to make what. Just like I don't care who gets rich and who doesn't. Matters not to me. I was looking for opinions when you decided you needed to stroke your ego a little.

Alot of these guys own dozens of custom knives and I was wanting their opinions on things. Not whether some knife builder is getting rich or not.

If your weren't looking to stroke your ego you could have simply posted that knife prices vary on how fast a builder can get them out the door and to some degree fit and finish. See simple. You could not do it. You wanted/needed a little cyber stroke for your ego.

I'm sure! I saw two Winston last weekend. First i have had in my hand. Great knifes. I did not no the history until then. I was told the Wiston's taught a lot of these other guys around theyre. Tells me Mr. Winston is a great advocate for the knife industry.

Dude, you missed the mark about as far as you could. Rick was jokin' when he commented about gettin' rich. You took that way wrong. The guy is about as good a maker as you may ever encounter and he was certainly offering you some sound advice. Trust me the guys that make 'em, know what to look for in a quality knife. You make enough and you start to recognize all the little subtlties.
