MontanaCreekHunter,

What makers do you feel are significantly better than Ingram? I'm not looking to provoke or sustain an argument with that question. Just interested in knowing who you feel are significantly superior to him for working knives.

I just received my first Dozier, a Yukon Pro Skinner. It's a great knife and might be the one I'd keep if I could only have one knife for hard service of all types. I also have a knife on order that will be identical to a Herron #2. Anxious to receive that one but it will be a while. I would like to see and handle some of Wayne Hendrix's work.

I had a Jason Winston knife for a short while that I purchased on this site. The handle wasn't to my liking (too thick) so I sent it along. Nice knife but not comfortable in the hand to me. Ingrams have a much better feel to me. Have not had a David Winston knife but like look of Ingram's handles better. I do love Ingram's knives but only have two.

Frank

If it was any more I'd go elsewhere as well ...

I've owned a couple of Wayne Hendrix knives and they are excellent as well. Priced reasonably too. Another I would closely consider is Mike Miller who posts on here as well. Very nice knives, very sharp and nicely finished too.

I like what I have seen in pictures from you. I have never seen one of yours in person or had the chance to give one a field trial.

I base my opinions on knives more from the field use then looks. I have found looks can be decieving. But I do appreciate a beautiful knife too.

MCH,

Thanks for the names. Some I've heard of (Halfrich and Harstfield), some not. I'll be looking at them. This custom knife thing is not simple but is fun, yet it can be a terrible addiction.

Thanks again,

Frank

Sean O'Hare makes a really nice knife. However like Ingram, May, and the likes Sean has a wait. Most guys that are at the top of the game have waits or are not taking orders.
