Dink, no dog in this fight. I think you and Rick just had a bit of a mis-understanding. Anyway, if my history is correct Dave Winston had a hand in teaching Ingram. Rick alluded to that in one of his posts.
IMO their knives are very similar in build quality. With that being said, Ingrams do cost more and are considered more "collectible". If that is not your intention then the Winston is your huckleberry. Outstanding build quality, at a bargain of a price. Want to save a little more? Go to Dave's son...Jason, as his quality is rapidly approaching his Dad's, but his prices are a little lower still.
Hope this can get back on-track so we can talk about knives. Usually this level of animosity is reserved for the Campfire forum.
