That pattern may very well be abrasive blasted. I am going to experement with that over the weekend. I think that would be super easy to do if that is the case.
Perhaps abrasive blasting after stippling, just enough to blend and knock the tops off.

Thanks guys - good info and ideas. Given where we live, obtaining small and/or special tool stuff takes some time and effort. With your help, I'll probably get this done right. Thanks again - keep it coming.

Tom - I have soooooo much to do to between now and then - including prep for the gathering - that this little job may have to wait. No worries - there are lots of other things to shoot, including the always interesting items that you and others bring.
I am only teasing. I've got anfairnbit of prep to do for July as well.
Are you going to have your 7TCU all set by then? Did you switch using that scope you bought for it? I'll be bring the 7-30 Water rig that I had in S.V. though I may switch from a 1x to my 2x scope before then.
The work looks familiar, but I can't remember where I have seen it before. As others have mentioned, I suspect it is blasted. Now I'm going to have to give it a try. Ken

It looks very similar to a pattern a Friend of mine does. His punches were hand made & square,The points are eradic and differant depths. Basically they look cavitated out, almost by some sort of cutting torch. He also sometimes slightly twists the punch when striking. The punch leaves differant sizes, shapes & depths. S.S.Wire wheel brushing with a Dremel will also give a differant look.
