Great little carry guns, those.

Look the same except yours seems to have more notches in the handle.
By the way, do you have an opinion as to the model's ability to handle high-pressure loads?

Manufacturers aren't going to certify their pistols as +P or +P+ unless they are all-steel, full-size, for the most part. For instructions on what to use in this or any pistol, consult the manufacturer. As to speculation, conventional wisdom seems that in pistols such as this you should be shooting target-type ammo most of the time and restrict higher pressure loads to actual self-defense carry and some function/accuracy testing. The PF9 is not made to be a long-lived proposition, but rather, a cheap, concealable, functional self-defense piece that will allow you to carry a serious caliber in situations you normally would go unarmed or underarmed. It is very popular. My own experience with one was that it was not reliable. I no longer own one.

I like +P+ in the 9mm. That's what I carried in mine, but would not advise anybody to do the same or not to, for that matter.

It did the job for Zimmerman though.

There's no 'certification' for +P+. Any manufacturer that does so is either playing you or stupid.

I'm just using the terms generically. I'm generally not a proponent of hot rodding, but I like 9 loadings that are pretty hot.

Kel-Tec PF9 3.1" barrel
1) 124 gr FN Honady bullets and 10 gr Power Pistol. 1336 fps [Quickload thinks 49kpsi to make that velocity].
2) Hirtenberger +P+ 1275 fps 100 gr 3" barrel

But if one compares the PF9 barrel with the P11 barrel, they are the same.
The P11 barrel I have throated and shot with 11 gr Power Pistol 158 gr XTP lots of times.

The recoil from a S&W 29 44 mag with 24 gr H110 and 240 JHP gets old after ~ 50 rounds.

The recoil from a P11 9mm with 11 gr Power Pistol 158 gr gets old after ~ 3 rounds.

So the Kel-tec can take it, but the human hand cannot take the recoil.

Thanks Clark,
I've been considering picking up a P11 or PF9.
It's good to know that they are strong pistols.
