Mauser, you have entirely missed the point.

I am not recommending Powerbelts to anyone. But you're recommending a bullet you've never used on big game.

The Thor may be one bad-ass bullet, but you're not in a position to make that conclusion. That is my point.

Bang-flops mean squat to me--they're more a result of where you hit an animal than what you hit it with. I've had 'em with everything from C & C .30-30 bullets to TSXs to PBs. I've had three with PBs, two elk and a deer. I've killed seven elk with PBs and three deer, never had one get away, as a matter of fact they blew right through the deer and were impressive.

But I am not recommending them to anyone, or claiming they're "the best," just stating my own personal experience.

What I use should be no concern of yours; I didn't bring it up, you did. I don't care what you use either. I've had a .50 caliber round ball fail on me on a whitetail (yes it was recovered), but I'm not saying you shouldn't use them even though I choose not to.

See how that works?

Yes, but I used the 45 cal version in a sabot during rifle season. It worked great. I have no reason to think the 50 cal will be any different.

If I recommend a Nosler Partition that i've used in a 30-06, and say it will be a good bullet for a .270. Am I that far off?

There's more reason to recommend a bullet besides terminal performance for a ML. Although that's at the top of the list with me. What I like about all Barnes bullets is you can get the job done with a smaller bullet. What a Thor can do with a 250gr bullet takes a much heavier lead bullet in a ML. So, an added benefit to a Thor is less recoil. Real important for an old fart like me.

so thor bullets got the bullet bore diameter,s for various manufactuers across the board

so is the tc bullet bore diameter of .502 the same for all of tc,s 50 cal rifles

i have a tc renegade in 50 cal
i wanna give the 300 gr fpb,s a whirl with 100 grs of pyrodex rs select rifle grade
and then i see the thor stuff being mentioned here and they have them in 250 gr might wanna try them also with the same powder charge

kinda like the idea of trying a hollow base conical design and see how they shoot

Not really a hollow point. They all have a tip.

No, it's a hollow point. U can choose hollow or tipped. I got hollow so I didn't have to use a special bullet seater to load them.
The 247 "Colorado" Bullet is a hollow point in order to meet the OLD Bullet Length restrictions in Colorado.

I understood that Terry took off the tips to make them legal for Colorado. After Colorado changed the law he started to sell just the tipped bullets again.

Have you got the bullets with no tips? Much better bullet with the tip. Loaders are really cheap. It's like buying a jag. 5-6 bucks.

He still sells both, I ordered the hollow. Yea, He sells the seater for like $6. I didn't want a seater sticking out the end of my gun while hunting though? Is the tipped that much more accurate, have you shot them? If the hollows don't shoot good then maybe I will try the tipped.
