Probably lots of things not to like, but I generally agree with you and since I'm not a Walmart hater, won't go into what they cover better than I can. I live in Walmart country. For better or worse, the first Walmarts sprang up around here. We've been to the Visitor's Center down in northwest Arkansas. I forget whether it's at Springdale or Bentonville. Ol Mr. Sam was a fine man. Unpretentious.

I just like it that Walmart has caved to profit over political correctness and put them in their stores. I bought one in Fort Scott, Kansas, the closest Walmart to me that carries guns. The Sporting Goods Assistant Manager said his boss told him I got the last, but I see they've got another one in besides the Colt and a Sig.

I've long thought that the Mini was losing ground to the AR. The Mini is just too high for what it is and suffers from the reputation it rightly deserved for being inaccurate for many years. Dunno if the new ones will overcome the accuracy gripe and don't really care as I don't intend to ever own a Mini again.

I wish Walmart would start carrying pistols again.

I've seen SIG's, Bushmasters, DPMS' and even Colt Law Enforcement Carbines at Walmarts. I don't know what all they had, but one was a Colt for between $1100 and $1200. What struck me though was the Sportical they had in 308. 308! Black rifles have really taken off and went mainstream, at least in my AO.

Walmart gives the local store managers some flexibility with what rifles they want to stock - and I've seen the same type of variation, and it's a good thing.

Lets hope they don't let some numb nuts run the gun counters this time - last time they fined for not properly filling out the background check paperwork and that's why they stopped selling guns so much (IIRC).

As far as I know, no. Bushmasters are generally available at Walmart. They're a part of Remington now though. The Bushmaster brand has been evident around here at Walmart this past spring.

There was a full article in one of the gun rags (Guns and Ammo/American Rifleman?) last month about the Bushmaster name being picked up by Remington and closing the plant in Maine. A number of long time employees were about to be out of work. A former plank owner of the original Bushmaster company bought the plant in Maine, and opened the line up again under the Windham name to keep the local community employed. I may be off on a detail or two, but that's the jist of the story.

Hopefully, Bushmaster won't go the QC way of Marlins...

We just got a DPMS 308 yesterday at our Walmart. We also got a Remington MDL in 30-06 and an ADL in .270 with a camoflaged stock. kwg

Remlin and Bushmaster, as well as DPMS, are owned by Freedom Grope/Cerebrus
