Ok, 4 those of you that actually clean their rifles from time to time what do you use for a craddle to hold your rifle? I have an old ones that's about due to be replaced as it's not holding together anymo. So, what's the juice on the cleaning craddles these days? Gracias Dober

Dober I use an old MTM model. Rwd tray with the removable plastic pueces to rest rifle in. Aint fancy but certainly serviceable and i have no complaints.

Heck, most of the time I just have a couple notches cut out of a cardboard box. Any used patches get thrown in the box and when it gets a bit ratty, I get another one.

I bought one from Cabelas years ago - the rifle supports look just like this one currently at Cabelas: but the base is single tray very similar to the one roundoak's son made: [/quote]

I use the same one. It works fine for my needs; holds enough crap in the compartments, stores well when not being used and travels to the range with me if need be.

I use a Tipton at home and The same as KDK and Lawdwaz on my range/camp cleaning box. I prefer the sit on top for hunting/range work even though the box has its own cradle pieces that clip in

I gotta ask, what is the functional use of the Nunchakus on your reloading equipment on the bottom left?

Thx guys, lots of good ideas here.
The old one I need to replace was made by Decker and was one sweet rig.

DigitalDan -- a man of contradictions! Huge overkill on the cleaning cradle... and underkill when it comes to cartridge choice for killing hogs! Anyway, a VERY nice cradle! Do I see cypress wood? John

I use a Bisley Gun Vise made in 1913, I had it rebuilt and it works fine.
These are my opinions, feel free to disagree.

Yeah, I am disturbed. Not too much overkill when the front end looks like this: Red Cedar on the base, Persimmon for the cradles. I tanned a liberal's azz for the leather trim.

Yes, it uses a false muzzle for loading. 1880's vintage slug gun of .50 caliber. There is also a FM on the High Wall in the second picture. It is a .40-.38-55 muzzle loading cartridge gun. .50 front end with tools: Now you know why the cradle is, uh, substantial in dimensions.

Been using this same unit for 15, or so years. Still works just fine, though it gets used a lot less as I learned here that there really is no downside to cleaning far less often. PSA. Don't use it as a shooting rest with a 300 Win. Mag. Good pard Jaybob's bloody lip taught me that in a very, very humorous range session many years ago.

A couple of home made jobs. The black one is sprayed with rubberized bed liner. The other oak, didn't spend alot of time on either...
