Your fwt 300 wsm....Yours is a 2008 limited also isn't it...Or one of your other rifles? I liked the 30-06 I bought from you so much that I had to get this barrel. One of my buddies here told me about the barrel for sale here in the classifieds...I had to jump on it...Now if only it is as accurate as the 30-06 I bought from you...It's bedded and ready to go...I swapped mounts and rings and loctited everything down...Just got thru checking OAL for 5 different bullets....We'll see how she does. Maybe this weekend if everything goes good....

Can you give us some info on what you're going to be shooting off? I always get curious about peoples loads. I have no doubt that you will find your rifle accurate.

That's always my 1st and 2nd try.

Pick a 180 grainer, load it with 64-65 H4350 in .5 gr. increments over a standard primer. Find what charge gives easy extraction at 2,950 - 2,970. Try a Mag primer if need be.

RL17 will give you another 50 fps over H4350 but might not be as accurate.

Some dang good advice there Brad but you left out the 165's....Mine loves 66 gr's. of H4350 and just about any 165 gr. bullet ...I run the mag primer though....

For this 300 shortie I'm going to focus on the 180 gr. partition (hunting bullet) and the 180gr. winchester power point (my practice bullet). I'll do like Brad suggested and run the H4350 and see what the chrono tells me...I've been dying to try the RE17 but I may not try it this go around unless my velocity isn't where I want it....We'll see...

BSA, Mine is a 2008 with wood about like yours. I was told mine was the rifle used in John Barsness's M70 article in American Rifleman a couple of years ago.

I find RE17 to be very consistent from the same lot, some people have said that they have experienced inconsistencies from lot to lot, I have yet to experience this.

The only thing I have tried that was less than 200gr. was 168gr. TSX rounds, and they shot like crap. My rifle loves the heavy rounds, I have yet to find one that it didn't like. Hopefully my next experiment will be with 215gr. Berger Hybrids and 230gr. Hybrids under RE17 to see what this powder is really capable of, for now I'm toning it down a bit in preparation for hunting season here.

Got a McMillan for it on the way and plan to order some PTG bottom metal, but haven't shot it yet. Trusting from Rifleman article that it's a shooter.
