Here's a data dump from some recent load development,

308 Win
26" Rem 700 SPS Varmint

110gr Barnes TTSX
Win brass
CCI 200
2.79" OAL

RL-7
44.0 gr - 3346 fps, .75 moa (chrono at 30 ft, target at 155 yards, 4-shot groups)
45.0 gr - 3392 fps, .75 moa
46.0 gr - 3476 fps, 1.2 moa (slightly stiff bolt)
47.0 gr - 3543 fps 1.2 moa (stiff bolt, ejector smear)

W748
54.5 gr - 3322 fps, .75 moa
55.0 gr - 3347 fps, 1.5 moa
55.5 gr - 3413 fps, 1.0 moa

The RL7 leaves a bit of room in the case, the W748 is compressed. I think H335 might be about perfect for optimizing velocity to case capacity.

I didn't moly these, knowing the W748 compression would have pushed a slick bullet back out of the case some.

Muzzle velocity would be about 25 fps faster than chrono velocity at 30 feet.
What do you have in mind for that light Barnes?
Do you have any TAC Shane? I think that might make it sing
Just out of curiosity, how far off the lands?
Guy, you know I tend toward the heavies, but I was kind of intrigued to see how fast these would go in a 26" 308. Not a LR bullet by any means, but at 3400 fps it should retain 2000 fps to 500 yards.

I'm planning to use this bullet on mule deer in a few weeks.

Steely, No I don't have any TAC onhand. I agree though. I was crunching some data through Quickload and TAC, AA2230, and H335 all look real good for this combo. I tried RL7 and W748 because that is stuff I had on the shelf.

sas', These are about .170" off the lands. I seated them with the top groove in the bullet just above the case mouth.
Like all Barnes stuff the 110gr TTSX is long for it's weight at 1.05", the Hornady 150gr Spire Point is 1.067".

Dang, and I thought I was going light for the .308 when I loaded up a batch of 125 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips for a friend!

The little 110 Barnes should do real well. I shoot some 110 gr Sierra hollow point varmint bullets at rock chucks time to time from my .308 Win. The light varmint bullet messes up those chucks real bad...

Interested in seeing how this works. I'll bet it works just fine on the buck.

I'm going to shoot the 110 Barnes beside the 110 VMax and see how they do. I'm thinking they will shoot same POI if started same speed. Both are advertised as BC .295.
