Recently picked up a model 722 early 50's vintage which didn't have a front sight. The barrel has 3 holes where the ramp should go but pics I've need of replacement ramps only show 1 bolt hole for attachment.

I realize an aftermarket front ramp may have been installed but the rear sight looks original. Also, parts diagrams found online list 2 ramp pins required although the front sight appears to dovetail into the ramp. Do the pins fit into the barrel as alignment aid?. What else would they be for?
I looked at a 788 in my safe. It has one obvious screw through the ramp.

I also have 722s in 6mm and 257 R. I can see no means of attachment on the ramp. I assume there must be a single screw hid in the dovetail slot under the front sight.
I believe the front sight was soldered in place.
I had a friend who had two removed recently. I wish he had kept the sights
Edited to say I looked up on Numerich arms sight
Shows sight required two pins and a screw. I don’t remember his barrels having holes. So maybe had been plugged.
I have 2 722’s a 300 savage and a 257 Roberts.
Never tried to remove the front sight
Every one I’ve ever dealt with on 721/722s has been silver soldered on.

Me too. I do not recall an alignment pin hole in the barrel of one that had the ramp removed either.

Very likely the ramp was removed and the bbl d&t with holes for a different front sight.
