Savage 99 250-3000
M77 257 Roberts
M-70 7x57 FWT
Mk-V 30-06
I would keep these

I’d keep a couple of my favorite 270’s, but there’s not even one 270 on your list.
I would keep the:
250-3000, with cast bullets it makes a great plinking/small game round, bump it up to 75's and you have a great coyote rig, and depending on the barrel twist a good deer rifle..
7x57 Winchester it will just about any big game hunting you want to do
35 Whelen, you have to have a big gun
7mm Weatherby/6.5x300 to play the LR game.
With the proceeds from the sale of the others a nice little 222 Rem or 223 sporter
35 Whelen
300 Savage
250-3000
and buy a 17 HMR ;?)

7x57 Savage 111
Keep the .308 win., the .35 Whelen, and the .250-3000. Sell the rest and if you really want a fourth gun get a .243
vapo, NOT directed at you.
In only 3 pages the differences in tastes/likes/dislikes and priorities are very evident.
VARIETY is good. Keeps rifles & ammo makers in biz.

Keep all Savage 99s. 257 Roberts M77 Ruger

These four would be my choice:
.300 Savage 99
.257 Roberts R77
.308 Win M700
7x57 M70 FWT
But like someone else already mentioned, there should be a good 223 Rem bolt action included.
Looks like the .257 Roberts and 7x57 M70 are on almost every short list. I have a few .223/5.56 but they aren’t bolt guns....
250-3000 Savage 99
308 m700
7mm Wby. Mag
Keeping just 3 allows buying another whatever in the future.
Looks like the .257 Roberts and 7x57 M70 are on almost every short list.
All the cool kids have them.
You could just keep those two and not want for much in a BG rifle. Still need a 223 sporter though.
DUMP:
.308 Win M700
.30-06 V
6.5-300 Weatherby Vanguard
.35 Whelen M700
7x57 Savage 111
Sell 'em all....buy a 6.5 Swede.
My wants would likely be different than your needs, but you said what would I keep:
.300 Weatherby Mk V
.257 Roberts R77
.30-06 V
.35 Whelen M700
I’m not sure what Model a “V” is. But I’d have to have a 30-06.
The 7x57 could replace one of those...
I can't choose and it's not even my stuff!
I think you should sell the 99F 358 to me. I’ll take good care of it. I have an identical it can sit in the safe next to.

It depends on what you want to do with what you'll have left. I'd probably keep the .358, .257 Roberts, .35 Whelen, and 6.5x.300. That would depend somewhat on how accurate each is compared to the others.

M700 35 Whelen But IF you have to let this go and it's in the classic please PM me
358 Win
This is blasphemy.
That said, I reckon you have a good reason.
Do you mind responding to the questions about what type of shooting and hunting you want to do, and maybe a bit about why you need to trim to 4 rifles?
Do you need to raise some money for something? That argues to sell the .358 M99 as it is certainly worth a bunch, but I'd sure hate to let mine go - leaving tomorrow on an elk hunt with it.
Are you downsizing your home? Dealing with mortality and taking some strain off your heirs (bless you if so, though we all are aren't we)?
What kind of rifles make you the most happy? I think we'd all like to know your circumstances.
Cheers,
Rex
Keep or sell them all. Doesn't matter to me.
When I want to thin the herd I start with two rifles in the same or similar caliber. Take those two out and shoot them. Whichever doesn't suit me goes. Put the rifle up for sale and after it's gone then I'll pick two more to take out for a trip to the range. Pick one to keep, one to sell. Keep it simple.

I still deer hunt, elk hunt, and shoot the occasional varmint. Bear , maybe.
Maybe I’ll take Uncle Alps advice and take the pairs of 7x57 and 7mm Weatherby to the range and dump the two that shoots the least and start there.
I have no ulterior motive to finance anything or downsize our home. Just thinking about too many rifles that I never use.
Happy Trails

My exact keeper-list also!
OK, here goes:
.300 Savage 99 ???
.250-3000 Savage 99 keep as wife’s by the front door rifle
.358 Win 99F sell to a friend who has wanted it for years
.300 Weatherby Mk V keep until I quit elk hunting
7mm Weatherby Mk V. Sell one of them.
.257 Roberts R77. Keep it
.308 Win M700. Give to my son
.30-06 Mark V. Keep. Wife gave it to me our 30th anniversary
6.5-300 Weatherby Vanguard. Try it out hunting deer.
.35 Whelen M700. Give to my son.
7x57 M70 FWT. Sell, doesn’t shoot well anyway.
7x57 Savage 111 keep for deer rifle, shoots well

You're showing good survival instincts.

Edited to add I somehow missed your last post 🧐
Keep the rifles you can't replace with just a little shopping. That means the Savage 99 in .358 tops my list of keepers. You decide the rest.
.257 Roberts R77
6.5-300 Weatherby Vanguard
.35 Whelen M700
7x57 M70 FWT
These four,
.300 Savage 99
.250-3000 Savage 99
.358 Win 99F
.300 Weatherby Mk V
and these four.
7mm Weatherby Mk V

and these four,
6.5-300 Weatherby Vanguard
.35 Whelen M700
7x57 M70 FWT
7x57 Savage 111
In this time of peak firearm and ammo sales I find 270 win and often 243win available in factory ammo.
Here's my minimum
AR 5.56 with an 22lr upper. This covers a lot of ground itself.
30-30 win. I like it and ammonis common
308 win or 30-06. Nothing needs said here but a person needs a popular 30cal rifle.
Optional would be an 44mag or 45-70 levergun if you were into a hobby of shooting and reloading and casting your own bullets. This is hobby status and not necessary.
If a person just didn't care for the 30cal rifles I would 100% have the 270win in that slot because it's availability in many rifles and ammo is very common.
Thats really it. 4 or 5 do a good job of taking care of everything. Wish I could whittle it down to that myself. Throw in a shotgun and an revolver and pistol and your truly outfitted.
Shucks, you just aren't shooting enough! keep the rifles and shoot more.
Winters coming start thinking about reloading more. Don't slow down
speed up. good luck!
All three 99’s and The 7mm Weatherby
You obviously like 99s, so keep either the .250 or the .300. Beyond that, the -06 or the .35 would likely take care of anything else you might need to shoot. Those two should be sufficient.
This would be easy...
.358 Win 99F
.257 Roberts R77
30-06 V
7x57 M70 FWT
In true tradition of campfire answers,
fast twist .223
6.5 Creedmoor
.280 Rem
9.3x 62
I've been chipping away at the herd. Pretty close to utah708's list now, only the 280 is a Sauer 7X64. No .223 and no plans for one. Just picked up a Steyr Mannlicher FS in 6.5X55, so the Tikka T3x in 6.5 Creed just might need a new home. Have the 9.3X62 in a CZ550. It will stay. Many pistols have gone, only S&W now, and a couple of 1911's. Given several to kids and relations. Retirement move soon so now time to look at the reloading stuff..
IWAM,
am not amazed at how long this thread has gone on.
I haven't made suggestions because my choices would (as have all the "answers" so far) reflected my personal prejudices--which are often based on experiences and emotion, like the preferences of most humans about anything.
So I would suggest choosing those rifles that have provided the most to your experience and emotions. This is partly because within certain broad cartridges and "ballistics" really don't make that much difference.
IWAM? Yep the ones that have worked for myself YMMV.
30-06 Weatherby Mark V
.257 Roberts Roger M77
and maybe the 300 Weatherby Mag.
