From my taxidermist. I'm pretty pleased.

A nice set of antlers, but I think a better taxidermist was needed. A very unnatural setting of the ears in my opinion.

Ed it looks good. Do you know if that's the natural velvet or did the taxidermist strip it and use the synthetic spray on? I know there's pros and cons for both methods. That looks like he left the natural on but I'm curious.

That is the original velvet. The antlers were sent out for a freeze drying process.

EdM: Wow - that is a dandy Mule Deer!
Good for you.
Did you take it in archery season and if you don't mind what state did you harvest that trophy in?
Again - good for you.

Edm,

That's a very nice buck, one to be proud of. Great memories I'm sure.

I'm going to send you a pm as well.

Think it is just the way the pic had to be taken.

Plenty of brisket on that mount.

Nice buck and even better in velvet.

I shot a nice buck in velvet a few years ago and had the antlers sent out to research mannikins for the faux velvet. I couldn't have been happier, it turned out great and I never have to worry about bugs or decay. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.
