Does anybody have experience with the PSA Nitride barrels?
I have one Freedom stainless and two of their FN, CHF chrome lines barrels. All three shoot consistent sub-moa groups pushing 50-55 gr bullets with H335 or Blc(2).
What kinds of experiences is The Fire having with their Nitride barrels?
Thanks,
AS

I bought one, a 16" mid-length, govt profile, 1/7 twist. I put it on an A2 upper, so only had it set up with A2 iron sights. It's a good shooter, I've shot it at stuff like grapefruit size rocks out to 600 yards or so with M855 and handloaded 77s. It is consistent. On paper at 100 yards I kept most of them inside 2", I imagine it would do better with optics and a float tube.

Thanks MM.
I appreciate the report.
I was thinking about giving one of their 10.5" shorties a try.

I have a 10.5" pistol with a brace on it. I guess I have not really shot it past 100 yards. I can't say whether or not it's a "tack driver" since I've got an Aimpoint on it, not a scope. I can say that it's been reliable and I've had no issues with feeding, extracting or ejecting.

I went ahead and ordered the 10.5" Nitride upper, it shipped yesterday. For $199 I couldn't resist. I already have the brace and BCG.
I'll let everyone know how it shoots in a couple of weeks.
Thank for everyone's input.

Finished the new build and made it to the range today
Best results were with 27gr of TAC behind 55gr Nosler Varmigedons. Two groups just over an inch, two just under. It didn't like my standby load of H335, nor any of the 55gr FMJ's I fed it, Norma, PMC, IMI, all shot 2"+
'With an H buffer it functioned flawlessly, stacking the brass at 4 o'clock.
I'll play with it some more, but eventually, it will probably get an Odin barrel.

With a 10.5" barrel & that kind of performance, I think I'd be pretty pleased...................not intended to be a bench target gun, I imagine.
Especially if it's reliable........................

Finally shot my 16" 7 twist nitrided PSA middy.
Shot it on a highpower SR target @ 200 yds using a 4x scope. In an 8 shot prone rapid with 1 mag change, I shot a group that was about 1/2 MOA tall by about 1 MOA wide, with a couple leaked down into the 9. If I had put another 1/2-3/4 MOA elevation on it, it would have been a 80-6X out of an 80-8X agg. However, being a carbine it is very hard to shoot well. You've got to hold it very firmly. I tried a light touch in standing. My first 2 shots I called 9s or 10s and they came up misses out the top. So I bear-hugged it and did better, but it will never compete with a full-size A4. Holding it that hard induces tremor.
Load was 52 Sierras and 22.8 AR Comp.
