I was going through my father’s reloading bench as he passed a few years ago. My Mom asked me to clean it out and take what I want. I found a set of Lyman Ideal dies for the 32 Remington and a single unfired cartridge. I had never heard of it. The 35 Remington was quite popular where I grew up and I knew an old fellow who hunted with a Rem 141 in 25 Remington but never a hint of a 32 Remington!

Anyone ever hunted with one or have any good stores?

The .32 Remington is basically a rimless version of the .32 Winchester Special. My current one is a Remington 81 that I picked up last year. Previously had a Remington 141 pump in it that was stolen 21 years ago. Still had some ammo so HAD to have another rifle to shoot it in. Still haven't gotten around to shooting it...

The .32 Remington was, I believe, a rimless version of the .32 Winchester Special. But I may be wrong.

SCGunNut confirmed what I thought, thank you, sir.

See, the only time I've been wrong is when I thought I was....(grin)

my days living in MN, saw a lot of old guys who thought deer rifles started and ended with a Remington 14 or 141 in 25 Rem, 30 Rem, 32 Rem or 35 Rem....

and those in my wife's family preferred the 32 and 35 Remingtons for some reason...

one of my pipe dreams is a Remington 30S in any one of those Remington Rounds...

I have the 25, 30, and 35. Always on the lookout for a 32 to complete the set in a model 8 or 81. I have the dies and a goodly amount of brass that I can neck up or down. The 25 and 35 belonged to my grandfather so they have some sentimental value.

When I was a kid the .32 REM in Remington 14 and 141 pump guns were popular in the parts of western NH and eastern VT where I learned to hunt deer. One of our neighbors, Forrest Corette, was a Remington fan, shooting their pump action rifles and semi-automatic shotguns. Mr. Corette's deer rifle was a Remington 141 in .32 REM and his practice rifle was a Remington 121,. Mr. Corette was probably the first person I remember having a .22 rifle set up as an understudy rifle to his deer rifle so that he could practice more frequently and more economically.

My great-uncle, Don Tilton, hunted with a Remington 81 in .32 REM before and after he was away in the military during WW2. He told me that he didn't care for the Remington 81 and traded it in on a Remington 740 in .30-06 shortly after they were introduced.

I have owned one rifle in .32 Remington, a minty Remington 14 that I bought in the Atlanta metro area in 1985 and traded toward a Remington 722 in .257 Roberts a few years later. I never got around to shooting it, but it was the nicest standard grade Remington 14 that I recall having seen.

Remington had a "family" of cartridges in the 25, 30, 32 and 35 Remingtion calibers. The Remington 14/141 pumps and 8/81 autoloading models were made for them. The cartridge case for the 25, 30 and 32 was the same except for the neck (and the headstamp). If you want to shoot the 25, 30 or 32, be prepared to pay for ammo. It's not impossible to find, but spendy. Collectible boxes are getting a bit crazy for my wallet - saw a box of 30 Rem go for $200 today at an auction.

you will find a Remington 30 Express bolt action in 35 REM every now and then, but the other calibers, 25, 30, and 32 are scarce as can be.

A close friend who isn't a "gun guy" does have a pristine Remington Model 8 .32 Remington, that he inherited (along with a minty pre-war Colt Woodsman, but that's another story). Once every year or two he likes to shoot it and since I'm the only person he knows who can manage it, I'm his "procurer". First time around I finagled a box of reloads by using a set of .32 Winchester dies and some gun show .30 Remington brass. Not the best approach, but I made the gun go bang, safely - the loads were barely stiff enough to work the action. Proper dies and a nice stash of brass fixed that half-assed approach, and now that thing barks with authority and is quite fun to shoot (even if it's like shooting a pogo stick like Loggah describes it)!

I had a really nice Remington 30 in .25 REM, SN 17460, for awhile back in the early 1990's. I bought it from 99in22_250's Father on 03/10/90 and haven't seen one nearly as nice since then. I don't recall having seen a Remington 30 in .32 REM. Lots of 8s and 14s, but not nearly as many 81s or 141s.

My grandfather had a 30S in 32 Remington.. he died in 1968...

his firearms were divided between we boys... I don't know which of my cousins inherited that 30S..

I ended up with a Mid 1930s Marlin in 30/30, and a very early Savage Model 24... 22LR on top, and a 410 on bottom...

my grand dad loved that Savage as his favorite, since his favorite two meals were rabbit and squirrel...

that 410 was hard to beat for that type of service...

One of my pals in School used to hunt with a hand me down .32 Remington pump. Of course I attempted to buy it from him. No dice.

Is anyone interested in these dies? I can sell them. They will be reasonably priced. I recently downsized and my reloading bench is much smaller and I need the space!

Once the factory ammo supply dried up for the .25, .30 and .32 Remington's, I figured that the demand for those in the 14's would be the same which I take it isn't the case. I had a 141 in .35, but it was a heavy chunk compared to a couple of 14's that I know about.

My other auto is a .45
