.240 Spectre -- from the same folks that came up with 458 SOCOM.
Anybody heard of it? Anybody have any experience?

Ballistically like a 6.5 Grendel or actually it is a 6.8 necked to 6mm.
I don't see the place for it but I'm one of those sickies that still wants an AR in WSSM even though I know I don't have a real use for it!

Says it is a 6.8 SPC necked down to 6mm. Remington's crazy bolt head entry into military AR15 for military. There are arguments for that size. Why not just neck down the 6.5 Grendel and use that instead. There is a lot of people that swear by the SPC. it's just difficult to get bolts for that size.

I'm a very firm believer in staying in the middle of the road. I've got a buddy that reads a lot. He's trying to put together a 240 Spectre rifle-- says he wants to go deer hunting with it.

Why not just neck down the 6.5 Grendel and use that instead. No need. Hornady already went there with the 6mm ARC. https://www.hornady.com/6mmarc#!/

The 6.8 Spc necked down to 6mm used to have a large following on Predator Masters. I haven't been there for a while so I don't know where it stands right now. I considered it for a while but I haven't put much thought back into it since the election. I like the idea better than the .224 Valkyrie. I did buy the bolt to do the conversion in an AR. kwg

So many cartridges for the AR15 platform trying to reinvent the wheel.
The Grendel & ARC on the 6.5 & 6mm end with the 450's & 500's etc. on the other.
Picking the pepper out of fly chit for another cartridge that will fit in the format is just that IMO.
