Any guesses if the 25/308 will ever become a factory round? Seems like with the .243 and 7mm/08 it would be a natural for a short action deer/coyote round for guys that want a little more umph than a .243 and don't need to throw 140 gr. bullets for deer and might want to throw a lighter coyote bullet too. Most of the new factory rounds I've seen come out over the recent past seem very specialized and a 25/308 would check a lot of boxes for a lot of hunters.

Judging by the popularity of the older 25-284 cat, I don’t think so. There’s a 25 CM Hillbilly that hasn’t set any records, Yet
Having said that , the new longer range bullets in this caliber might activate some interest in the 8” 25-08 Improved Souper 🧐

It was always on my to-do list. I built a 250-3000 and a 25-204 and never found a need for the extra hp.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

The 25 WSSM didn't set the world on fire. I have one and love it but admit to being in the minority. I doubt a 25/308 would fare any better.

None of the WSSM cartridges really caught on, so that's not really a valid comparison.
I'm a big fan of the .25 cal, and have guns in .25 Bullberry, .25 TCU, .257 Roberts, and .25-06...but have absolutely no interest in a .25-308.

Not enough separation from the .250 Savage and the .257 Roberts.

Have thought about one as a friend has one that he has killed bunches of deer and hogs with. Excellent available brass is a plus as are the new bullets coming on line. Fast twist it and it should be a winner. But then again I am a quarter bore fan so there is that. GreggH

Not a chance, for several reasons. No major ammo/rifle companies have introduced a new .25 in years--I believe since the WSSM debacle, which involved several wrong decisions by Winchester.
There's also no real reason to plug the "vast" gap between the .243 Winchester and .260 Remington, both .308-based rounds.

IF, and that's a big IF, I reckon the .25 Creedmoor would be the go to cash in on the Creedmoor popularity over the last 15 years. But I doubt it and I'm a dyed in the wool .25 calibre fan.

To the original post, it's called the 6.5 Creedmoor. Does everything the .25 Souper does and more with only .007" more.

Never. Not a thing wrong with it, but no compelling reason for one either. Easy to do if it winds your clock, so go for it.

Is the Kimber that comes in a ,257 Roberts the same action they use for the ,243 and 308 and if so does all factory ammo fit it without hiccups?

I'd really be surprised to see the souper get legitimized.
The 25 Creedmoor already has factory brass available from 2 companies & that could be the deal maker right there.

Is there anything you can do with a 25 caliber you can't with a 26 caliber? I know a wider variety of 25 caliber varmint bullets are available compared to 26 caliber, but aren't there at least a couple of 26 caliber bullets that can serve any purpose one would use a 25 caliber for?

Careful there. You are flying in the face of loonyism. The truth is there is not much difference between anything from 6mm to 8mm. Just don't let that get out or we will have to get rid of most of our rifles.

I have eye-balled this and similar options, 257 DGR for example, as I have become a big fan of the quarter bore. I've used the 75gr Hornady hp for coyotes with great success, and up to elk with 120gr.
Case capacity doesn't do anything different, but building a fast twist barreled rifle would be fun with these newer vld style bullets.
I think it could be a success if it is advertised and over hyped like the man bun was. The Swede has been doing everything the 6.5CM will ever do for about a century, yet you'd think the idea of a fast twist 6.5 at mediocre speed is new.
Actually, with a 131gr bullet out of similar cases the .25 would probably be better. 🤫

If memory serves me correctly Rocky Raab had an interesting article on the 25-308 a number of years ago. I don't remember which magazine it was printed in.

Unfortunately I think Mule Deer is right (again!) the Souper doesn’t have much of a chance of making it to the market. If another 25 does it will probably be a 25 Creed
