Good morning members,I'm pleased and honored to be able to present knives from Nicholas Smith ,a newer maker from Louisiana. Nick has been around knives a bit and has decided the knives he'd like to build are of the Rick Menefee style. That is ,deep hollow grinds ,dramatic tapers and swedges and rounded and contoured handles. Nick has gone over to Rick's place to get pointers , it shows too These first knives I'll show here will be offered in the classifieds FS ,at " introductory " prices . I have looked them over and I will say confidently they are really clean, with fantastic grinds ,tapers and swedges . I'm excited because I know you guys will appreciate these knives They all have AEBL ss blade steel and this is a great choice for thin hollow grinds at Rc 61. So let's see some pics Vince ! This is a boning, styled after the Bose " Lil' Dumpling " Vintage natural linen micarta

Very nice. Have to keep a eye on him.
Ping pong balls for the win. Once you've wrestled everything else in life is easy. Dan Gable I keep my circle small, I’d rather have 4 quarters than 100 pennies.

they look well made, but for me, the handles would have to be another inch or so longer.

they look well made, but for me, the handles would have to be another inch or so longer. Nick told me he's made maybe ten other knives other than and before the batch I currently have in. For that small amount ,the grinds ,the tapers ,f&f etc ,spot on very impressive . Sam we are working out that " ricasso " detail and Nick will have that figured out in no time . I've seen some nice stuff he's working on ,I'll get some pics . And a mix of sheaths ,Larry Parsons ,and others for leather and Dave here is going to do some with kydex that's in the works too. I'm hoping to have some really fine knives to show & offer too. Knifemaker Nichols Smith will be a good one to watch for sure .

I bought the black jig handled boning knife. It’s a beautiful knife with flawless grind lines as far as I can see. Great sheath, nice and snug, as well. I’m looking forward to putting it to use this fall. Rick Menefee’s influence is obvious and Nick obviously paid attention on his visits to Rick’s shop. I couldn’t be happier with the knife and the price was a bargain in today’s market. First knife I’ve bought from Vince and the transaction was flawless with rapid shipping.

Get away from me Satan with thine temptations! :-) John Ha Haaa John I'm sorry but I like to think of this as ,instead of me tempting a buyer ,I'm helping a man sell his tools with a spin off to it , I helped another man upgrade some tools

I think displaying knives beside a tape measure give the buyer a better feel of the size and demensions of the knife.

I will ask Nick to do a batch of the 8-3/8" version as I have one other client ( member here too) in the want . That is the size that Ricky says if he could only have one knife afield ,that's the one !

Here's a pic illustrating 3 sizes of this " Dumpling" ( Tony Bose ) pattern tweaked a bit by Menefee . Nick uses these 3 patterns, thanks to Rick Other knife makers have also used Tony Bose's patterns and Rick Menefee's for this knife ,and I know of at least one other maker who has tweaked the pattern a bit. With handmade knives there will be variations too,for instance I have a medium size by Rick that falls in between the sizes shown above in between medium and the small boning.

I have to middle size Dumpling from Nick and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend one to anyone. It will dismantle a deer with ease, as well as breast a batch of pheasants. That handle style just wants to stay in your hand. I’m glad I picked one up from Vince. Gonna try a large one next, that’s just what a knife whore does.

Should be a cutter!
