I can remember someone telling me about ear "necklaces" in Vietnam worn by some hardcore types.

Never heard anyone talk about fingers.

And here I clicked on this thread thinking it was gonna be about some handguns or other military stuff brought home by G.I.'s back when they could do that sort of thing. I agree with all that say bury 'em; just dig a hole and empty the contents of the jar into it, fill it in and let nature take its course.

How many folks know about this?
As crappy as dealing with government would be, going to the police would be
less crappy than having them come to you!
About a million know about it now, probably ten million tomorrow.

99.99% of us had to go through the military version of customs before we left VN and again when we hit Oakland. Quite frankly most of us wanted to get home and usually avoided doing stupid stuff like that so that we wouldn't be stopped or delayed enroute. People hear or read about some isolated occurrence like this fingers & ears crap and think that it's commonplace - no wonder folks think so little of us VN vets.

I don't think that had anything to do with the attitude, then now. More about the protesters and the evening news. miles

I asked a SF opt. That I. Worked with about stuff like that. He said anything rotted quickly, in the heat and humidity. He had killed a big poison snake, and tried to keep the skin, even salted it rotted. I thought B's till he brought the large fangs into work a few days later.

A friend of mine had a necklace made of gold teeth…..don’t know if the necklace made it to the states! Another friend told of soccer matches using the heads of “cong” killed. I don’t know if any of the heads were brought home to the kids……soccer wasn’t as popular then as now! 😉 memtb

Six of my high school buddies joined the Marines in '67 and '68. They went to the 'Nam and they weren't driving a desk. I went over to David's apartment in Atlanta in 1970 and on the coffee table was a skull these guys had brought back.

They named it "Skull" and I saw them offer Skull a joint, he did not respond.
I don't know what ever became of Skull.
