I agree 100% it’s just kinda sucks to have a threaded barrel cut and threaded…lol. Yet I’m about to do it with a 6ARC. I have no idea why anyone would thread a 6ARC at 22”? Knock 4-5 inches off a thread it.

I sorta agree with fotis too though. The barrel lengths are tweeners. The people at have tried a suppressor and now use them want a few inches less. Those who haven’t tried a suppressor and refuse to would want to add a couple inches. They should have just left them a little longer skipped the threads and charge $50 less.

Looks like a good concept otherwise.

Bergara Crest

you are spot on. I'm concerned about a bore being more weather resistant than the exterior. I can stay on top of the exterior in most hunting environments I will encounter.

I don't want to have to swab the bore with solvent and oil and and have to fire the rifle again to get my zero back on every time I hunt in damp weather or wory about bore sweating when going from cold to a warm house or tent.

I think a lot of folks forget about the condensation factor when bringing a firearm in and out of environments with differing temperatures. They tell themselves "I don't take XYZ rifle out in the rain, so I'm good", but the gun sweats repeatedly and they slowly get the orange cancer in the bore.

I also think some people prefer coated firearms to SS because many of the coatings really are more resistant to exterior rusting from basic handlings with sweaty hands. They simply fail to consider the bore vs exterior argument.

Lol... I missed that "Monocoque stock" moniker on the web page. Should go over well with the rednecks at the gunstore.

- What's this "mo-no-cah-quay" stuff?

It's actually pronounced "mono-cock".

- Did you just say it's "cock" ????? But there's a letter Q right there.

Well, it's the French version of "cock".

-Mm-hmm. Why don't you pass me that Savage rifle over there.....

If I hunted in Alaska or the Pacific NW or in a Jungle I might be more concerned about the exterior. Stainless is just rust resistant but it still beats the heck out of Chrome Molly.
I guess there may be bore coatings now that are more resistant to corrosion than S.S. and don't interfere with gilt edge accuracy. If any knows one I'm all ears.

Looks like another target rifle to me. I'm old and accustomed to carrying a rifle in my right hand, immediately in front of the trigger guard. That 10 or 20 round extended mag is a no go for me. I'll stick with the standard sporters. As in everything, ymmv.

There are some who obsess over "COAL platitudes" and get all monococked up over this feature smirk

I'm with you that if you carry your rifle in your hands, this protruberance is an abomination

MDT makes a 3-round flush mag.
I tried it in a CA Ridgeline Scout and it works/functions just fine - can't say for certain it'd work on the new Bergara offering.

AICS mags come in a lot of configurations so I'd not throw the baby out with the bath water.

Yeah - lots out there in the footprint -even 10 round 22lr in an AICS SA R700 footprint - should I ever find one in the wild. Got my email on about 30 "notify me when back in stock" lists.

Cerakote is an answer to nothing but aesthetics. And honestly it usually doesn’t look that good.

I can get behind nitriding.

It almost like you can give the replies from the start. Lol. I’m still amazed that people who will not try modern equipment are complaining about modern equipment on the INTERNET……grin

They’re pointed toward the suppressor crowd.
There’s a pile of other offerings that fill the “I gotta get all the velocity I can” lanes.
