Been wanting one for quite awhile and finally found a nice lefty. Got it just in time to mount the VX3 1.5-5 30mm with illuminated duplex in Talley QD. Leave Fri night for a Saskatchewan bear hunt and should be fun running a 400gr partition through a bear. Pussy cat to shoot with the brake. Roy

Excellent! Love shooting bears with Big Bores! And some of those Sask. bruins are huge! Wishing you good success and a great hunt! Bob www.bigbores.ca

DF I got all the components to load for it but as I just got it sat and scope mounted last night I’m just using factory Nosler custom ammo. Roy

Where do the iron sights print? Haven’t had a chance to play with them yet. Later date. Time crunch with 2 Sr high school boys playing baseball. Will have to wait till I come back from saskatchewan. Roy

I’ve also got a LH 416 Rem (Model 70) I’ve got a 1.5-6X Leupold on mine. It’s a buffalo killing machine. I load 400G TSX and Barnes Solids with RL15. You’ll like it. (No brake on mine- but still a pussycat to shoot with an Echols stock).

I like the 416 round, I have one in a Model 70, but its right handed. Certainly does not recoil like you would expect, its more of a shove. Beautiful rifle you have, good luck in your hunt.

I talked to Bill Hober at Swift. Found out he uses 4064 powder in his factory ammo, got his loads. Used those loads for my bud’s Africa ammo. Worked well.
400 Swift A-Frames and 400 NPT’s shot about the same. PH preferred the SAF, so that’s what he used. He had both loaded, ready to go.

That’s the Penrod number right? Post some pics again! Yes. Penrod built 416 Remington. LH Model 70. Kreiger barrel, NECG sights, Darcy Echols magnum fill stock. It Shoots. Originally a 375HH- killed a bunch of stuff with that caliber too.

Speaking of the Echols Legend, D'Arcy is easy to talk to and is very helpful. He worked with me on my .404J build. I went with Std fill, cross pinned and Steel Bedded. He said that would work and it did. Std fill is a bit lighter than Mag fill. This link is to my .404J build using a .300 RUM, SS M-70 Classic and a Walther barrel. The Echols Legend is a great stock. To me you have to get down on it to see the irons. It's a dual purpose comb, for irons and scope. Too low, the comb wouldn't be that good with the scope. I would go with a .416 Rem over the .404J, as that round seems to be gaining support and IMO, is the way to go. I eventually traded the .404J, as I didn't need it, have a great .375 H&H M-70 SS Classic. DF https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/7846376/3
