Classic Simpsons. You would think they would have this down by now...then again they can't tell a pitted bore from an excellent one. At least that has been the case with at least 3 rifles I've had to return.

I came across a Husqvarna in 9.3x62 at a gun show today that if it shows up the next show I might jump on. It had the Mauser 3-position safety, was not drilled and tapped for a scope, and had what appeared to be a ghost ring rear sight on the rear bridge of the action. It did have the stripper clip slots. I don't remember seeing the FN logo on the action. I really didn't take a lot of time looking at it as I was headed back to my own booth.

I'm guessing in the stock had been replaced because it looked laminated. I know prices tend to be marked up at gun shows but was $695 in or out of the ballpark? Also, would be a a sacrilege to have it drilled and tapped for a scope? I'm thinking this would be my heavy rifle for African hunting.

A Husqvarna will not have an FN logo on the receiver. You may however see Belgian proofs on the side of the receiver ring below the woodline. Husqvarna prices seem to be all over the place lately...It seems like it depends how bad someone wants it. Some on GunBroker tend to languish while others get bid up way out of reason. If 695 is worth it to you, I think it's worth it. They're nice guns. I don't think it's sacrilege to drill and tap a gun meant to hunt with, but that's just my opinion.

Will the small ring versions handle the pressure of the 9.3x62 loads? I have a 03-A3 sitting around, would that be a better conversion (bore and chamber the Springfield vs chamber the Husky)

I prefer classic.

They made a version of the 46, the M46AN that was factory chambered in 9,3x62.

Factory loads would be fine but if you plan on hotrodding a 62 than a LR or Springfield might serve you better.

That's inspiring. And the Husky model 46A is a jewel. As is the highly under appreciated 9.3x57mm Mauser.
