More and more companies are moving to metals other than steel for rimfires (and larger calibers). Seeing this is an aluminum receiver, it just doesn't have the same appeal as the older 9422s with a steel receiver. If Marlin could bring back the 39A in steel, I think it would be a winner.

the new generation has forgotten the alloy craze of the 50's.
from alloy, they went to pot metal. from pot metal, they went to plastic.
just buy non cnc mills and lathes, hire expert machinists, and make guns out of steel.

Marlin 39s are, IMO, the pinnacle of rimfire lever actions.

These rifles might be successful and if chambered in 17 HMR and 22 MAG they might sell even more of them. A good lever action 22 MAG would be a handy rifle to own for rural folks who have a need to keep the coons and foxes from bothering the chickens.

My only 22 lever action is an Erma 971 which, I think, is the same as the rifles that Ithaca imported as their model 72.

In today’s market, the general public won’t want to pay the high price for that. A few would, but the masses won’t. Too many lower cost options out there. Most people would rather pay less and settle for a Henry quality firearm. Sad.

I'm not giving up my Marlin, but I will give the little Winchester a fair look.

I was lucky enough to pick up a 9422 a few years ago before prices went up. I know this new Ranger is NOT a 9422 but I’m definitely gonna pick one up. Yes I know it’s made in turkey and I wish it was made state side but who knows what that MSRP would be. Some of us would be willing to pay more for that but as stated above most wouldn’t.

I haven’t been able to find a release date this on any of the videos or articles from shot show.

I believe these are imported from Turkey along with their other cheap rimfire models. I would like to see one in person before making the jump but the price seems right.

Interesting but I wonder if it feels like shooting the 9422 my buddy had back in the 1990's. I put a lot of rounds through his back then and fell in love with them. But in 2018 I picked up a base model Henry H-001 on a whim. It was on sale, so I got it just to satisfy my urge for rimfire levers. Figured I would sell it if it didn't keep me happy. Turns out I like it and it's very accurate, currently has a Leupold 1-4x on it and it's been designated as a "keeper". If I didn't have that Henry I would be giving that new Winchester a close look and doing some research on them.

Any idea on the real world price on these?

Lots of dealers listing On gun.deals from around $330 and up. All listed as out of stock. Has been that way for the last few weeks. Not sure when they will actually be released.
