Picked up a Marlin 882 SSV 22 WRF and also a couple extra mags for it. None of them seem to feed very well, nor do they extract reliably with a magazine in the gun. Take out the mag and it extracts just fine. Seems like maybe the mags aren't made to very close tolerances? Anybody had any experience like this with their Marlin?

I've got an older 882 and a 25. Only one mag for each but no problem with mine. With the feeding problem is it any ammo or a particular bullet style

I’ve tried two different types of ammo, and neither seems to work right.

Try to observe where the bullet nose is hitting if not feeding into the chamber. For instance, if bullet is hitting the top of chamber mouth the feed lips on the mag "might" be too wide & need to be closed together a bit. If bullet hitting low, the feed lips might be too tight in the front. Just basic troubleshooting, & may not be relevant at all. But something to look for. Can't say about extraction.
My similar to Marlin, Savage HMR is like that. Feeds like greased lightning until the feed lips start to spread & then adjustment is required.

Never had a problem wiht Marlin mags. BTW, that is a great little gun

The front edge of your magazines are positioned too high and the rims of your cases are catching on them when you try to extract. A slight adjustment is needed.

Start by double checking your gun stamp to see if it is 22WRF or 22WMR.

Listen to Blackheart and check and adjust the level of magazine top when locked in.

Couple questions. Who is Blackheart? I’m not seeing a response from him.
Secondly, how do you adjust the magazine top when it’s locked in?

You likely don't need to do any modification to the magazine itself. The magazine slides into the rifle and is held in place over a post called the "magazine bracket". Bend the magazine bracket rearward {toward the butt of the rifle} slightly to lower the front edge of the magazine.

Sorry, I missed your comment. I took the action out of the stock and looked at that magazine bracket. I bent it back a little and it looks to have cured my problem. Thanks for the tip!!

Troutslayer: I have a Marlin Model 883 in 22 Magnum that functions perfectly.
I don't know what to suggest other than to try a NEW Marlin magazine.
Best of luck correcting this situation.
