Snow is melting fast and piles are shrinking

New snow melts within a day

Refuge had bear bait registration

Snow shovels are stored

Chains are off the tractor

Still need to swap tires on the fleet and get sandbags outta my little crummy.

WOOT!

Still several weeks away from spring up my way. Winter lets go late around these parts.

But folks are swinging flies for steelhead somewhere in AK, so yeah that means its spring...

Man i miss that.

Currently 14fricking degrees "ABOVE" zero. Translated: spring my ass. I am figuring it is time (2025) to start spending (5) FIVE months a year, someplace that does "NOT" super-SUCK.

For those dumb'[bleep] chechako's who think they have "gonad's" of brass. Your time will come.

ALASKA is a "HARD COUNTRY for OLDMEN". (But if you live it wide'ass open, balls'to the wall, the pedal floored, full throttle, it is a delightful place, to finally just sit-back and savor those memories while sipping Tequila).

All you got to do is uncover your boat and put your snow shovels away and you'll get more snow. Ask me how I know.

I’m in Ft. Lauderdale having just returned from the Caribbean and come the end of December I’ll be sailing around Singapore and S.E Asia….sounds like it’s the sourdough’s who aren’t too bright, us cheechakos with brass balls also have brains. 😂

You’ll learn….someday. 😂

Huh. Well, that sure beats a total ban.

I like the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons at home, and I like March here, too. I spent up to four months Outside a couple of times, and that was too long. I came to really like flying out on New Years Day (great flight prices), and it's still possible to catch the tail end of dove season open in Arizona in early January. Then spending the next couple of months throughout the Southwest taking walks in the desert shooting quail and coyotes. I like coming home in early March. It's like getting two summers and two winters per year.

Man, I pulled out the Challenger and washed it up last Sunday only to have it snow a couple more times last week. I’m over this winter.

For those south lovers, its mid to upper 80s this week. Had 90s every month of the time I spent south. Was 92 2 weeks ago.

Glad I'm smart enough to come south. glad I'm smart enough to head north before 100s hit.

Nope. 80 is my upper limit. 90 is out of the question, and 100 is just obscene. I prefer -10.

Its why I wanted out of TX. Heat and humidity. Ours is rarely under 60-70 percent.. 100 just gets started some summers. 100 days of it sometimes. Officially 100. If its officially 110 or so, then its about 130-135 in the sun. I have no clue how folks can go over to the sand things and work... screw that.... I get grouchy around 80. Its about when the wife reminds me its time to head north again.

Lord, have mercy!! There is simply no way I can survive that kind of climate.

As a kid I grew up in southern California. It wasn't so bad on the coast, but in the summer when we were off school, Dad would drive us out into that F'ing desert. From Louisiana, and after a couple years working in Barstow, he didn't think it was half bad. I just knew it was Hell on Earth. No air conditioning back then in cars, and no interstate. It was all that slow, windy Route 66.

My first summer in Alaska was Heaven.

Sorry Jeff. Enduring 90* in winter is the opposite of smart. 🤣

LOL. If other things were not as they were I would probably be most of the winter in AK also. Maybe except for TX deer season. Is what it is.

Huge flock of Canadas just flew over the house! First of them this year. Saw a lone snow goose last week.

Yep, definitely spring as of yesterday. How u can tell:

When a puny 36" track can't even be lifted out of a hole.

Because it's so fkn heavy with rotten snow, you feel like your intestines are going to rupture into your gawd dmn scrotum.

Your problem, Mainer, getting that load up the slope appears to be that you were running on only one cylinder. smile

First skeeter killed yesterday, multiple flocks of geese over, haven't heard cranes yet
