Giving my 3500 Ram to our son in law and looking at a GMC Sierra 2500 HD SLE 6.6 gas with the 10 speed Allison. Any advice, likes, dislikes, etc.? I only pull my 16' dump and 24' equipment trailers as needed anymore and figure that this truck would be sufficient.

The mirrors suck.... way too high and a hell of a blind spot.

I don’t notice a blind spot in my mirrors (2021). The 6.6 gas has been pretty good (for the first 40,000 miles anyway). I have the 6 speed and don’t lack for gearing, but I assume the ‘Allison’ branded 10 speed would be even better. Power is there, and I came out of an LML diesel. Mileage isn’t great but it’s better than the old 6.0 with noticeably more power, and not much worse than the diesels. Diesel fuel premium is more than the mileage hit, and the diesels are full of issues that just aren’t there with the gassers, especially if you aren’t towing every single day.

I’m a Dodge and Ford man, but came out of restaurant yesterday and GMC parked in front, they are very good looking, it was a 6.6, several of my buddies have them, they are comfortable.

I bought a 2022 3500 diesel and added the bumper to bumper 100,000 mile warranty, $67,000.00.

I’m not sorry. The mirrors work, the truck pulls like a diesel, not an almost as good gasser. It is comfortable and gets better mileage than a gasser.

What’s not to like?

I did exactly the same thing after driving only gas trucks and I'm wondering why I never went diesel before, love the truck.

Close friend's son has 2023 Chevy. Same truck. He has almost 90K miles on it, not a blip. I have 2019 2500 HD, but Diesel and it is a 6 speed. Only problem so far is head light bucket leaked. Buy the extended warranty. Pays for it self. Be aware that the 100K warranty starts on the day you bought it. So the ten year part of it might bite you if you do not put a lot of miles on it . Warranty cost was $1200 for a new bucket and lamp.

Only draw back as Don said is the mirrors are too high. With all the electronics running all the time, expect to replace the battery every three years. Rides better than a Dodge or Ford. The LT series is more economical than the LTZ unless you want leather seats. If you take the Sirus Stereo and On Star, that runs about a $100 a month. IIRC they give you the first few months free. Hated the factory Firestone tires. Noisy and replaced at 30K with Nitto AT EXO Grabblers.

I've got a 2022. I turn my trucks over every 5 years and get basically the same thing each time. This is the best truck I've ever owned. It rides as smooth as a Cadillac. 42000 miles and no problems.

The big ass mirrors do make a big blind spot. They also have to be folded in every time I pull it into the garage and when going through a drive through. They are power fold in/out, so not a big deal. Other than that, I've got no complaints.

I don't pull a load very often, but when I hook the trailer to it with a Bobcat on it, the truck has plenty of power.

The wife's brother has the exact same truck that the OP is looking at with the big gas engine and the 10 speed Allison. I'm not sure of the trim level, but the guy lives on a mountain top outside Helena, MT. has some bucks and buys lots of new vehicles, so he probably has a top tear one. He plows snow with it and runs a spreader on the back for the road up to his place. He likes the truck a lot because it has lots of power and altitude out there needs horsepower. When he says it is the best truck he's ever owned that tells me something. Keven tells it like it is and he might even keep this truck a couple of years. Not so the first model year's Grand Wagoneer because it has been in the shop more than on the road. Worst screwing over ever he told me as it has dropped 45k in value inside just the last year or two.

My other auto is a .45
