What I like:
Flip open scope caps, so that when I am not actually on a calling stand, ie, walking through the brush, in the truck, etc., my scope lens are protected from dust and junk. And if it comes a shower, rare but possible here, I can snap the scope lens covers closed to keep the lenses dry and clean. [Linked Image]
What I dislike:
Having to constantly readjust the rifle strap or calling bag strap, to keep it from sliding off my shoulder. [Linked Image]
Enter Quake Industries. [Linked Image] I have used Butler Creek scope lens caps for years, and they work great. But my AR-15 wears a Redfield Multi-reticle "red dot" type scope, and the ocular lens is right in the middle of a large size gap in the Butler Creek sizing chart, and I know from past experience that the sizes must be very close, or the caps will not fit properly, if at all. The snap-open caps by Quake Industries stretch much more, and they supplied caps that fit my scope beautifully. Another advantage comes to mind. Because they streatch much more than others, Quake Industries makes far fewer caps to fit the total range of scopes, so if you want to move their caps from one scope to another, that is possible within a reasonable size range. [Linked Image]
Then there is that matter of the rifle slipping off my shoulder. [Linked Image] Quake Industries are the folks who make "The Claw" rifle strap. I have one on my AR-15, and it never - NEVER - has to be readjusted, or pushed back in place. It really works! I put the rifle strap on my shoulder, walk all I want, even bend down and slip under brush, and the rifle strap never - NEVER - moves. Gotta love that! [Linked Image] And they make lots of stuff that I never see in the catalogs, like camo Claw straps, straps to use on a bag, quiet swivels, splatter box, camera lens snap-open covers, etc. See their web site at
www.quakeinc or e-mail them at quakeindaol.com for their color catalog of products.
