Thank you. I have it scoped the same as every other big game rifle I have, a VXII 2X7 which my absolute favorite. I use 7x for sight in and hunt at 2X. Funny thing is I have never turned the scope up on game yet, and the 2X has worked just fine smirk

I must say when I put together my next rig I may move the 2X7 to it, and swap a straight 4X Leupold to the 9.3. The cartridge is known for it's lack of recoil, but I still think it "kicks" noticably more than the '06 class of cartridges. Guess I'm a wimp.

Doing basically the same with mine now. Took off a VXIII 1.75-6 and going to put either a M8 2.5x20 or a 4x Conquest on it. I just don't need a variable on it.

I have used the 250 AccuBond from both the 9.3x62 and a wildcat 9.3 that has the same basic ballistics on a lot of game both in North America and Africa. My handloads run 2600-2650 fps, depending on powder and rifle. The game has run from deer-sized to bigger stuff such as elk, kudu and grizzly bear.

Penetration, expansion and accuracy have been excellent. The longest shot was on an African blesbok at 300+ yards, an animal about the size of a good-sized northern buck deer. The bullet opened nicely and dropped the blesbok right there with a high lung shot. The closest shots were probably on a 7-1/2 fot grizzly bear atabout 60 yards. The first penetrated completely and exited the far shoulder on a broadside shot. The second (as the bear turned to run away) hit behind the shoulder and penetrated the chest and up into the neck, where it was found under the hide about halfway up the neck, retaining around 85% of its weight.

I have also seen it shoot most of the way through bigger Africa animals on end-on shots. It's a really good all-around bullet in the 9.3x62, and should work perfectly.

I may need to clarify. I saw no problems with the Accubond. I would describe the performance on the elk as excellent. I just added a 270 Win to my collection to serve as my medium cartridge. I didnt want the 9.3X62 to serve as an all-rounder, I wanted it specifically for heavy/tough stuff, thus the decision to load the heavy slugs. My rifle definately prefers the heavier slugs accuracy-wise which is a bonus. Like Steelhead espouses, I am a one-load for one rifle type in order to keep things simple. My wife can verify how simple I can be.

I'd be very interested in seeing a pic or two of those Oryx bullets and of course a weight!

I'll get you some pics K9. I moved in December and I have located most of my stuff now. Only took 4 months! The bullet performance (or lack of) really surprised me.

Never hunted elk, but I can tell you that over the past 30+ years several 9.3X62s and a couple of 57s have piled up quite a few tons, literally, of moose, caribou, bear, and woods bison (which weigh in excess of a ton) using 286 gr bullets of different variety. smile

Sighted in 3" high at 100 meters, it takes only a dead-on hold to kill any of them to 250 with lung shots.
