Whatever a 7x57 can do a 270 can do better.

I just have to ask, are you positive this .338 bullet shot into that animal was indeed a Nosler Partition and not a Ballistic Tip?
I have been using 210 grain Nosler Partitions for years in my model 70 .338 Win mags and my .338/06 and never have gotten that kind of an exit hole. Now Ballistic Tips yes indeed I did get large exit holes.

It was a qtr'ing shot where it entered the shoulder and angled back towards the offside ribs and exited at a angle taking out 4 rib bones. I'd imagine the ribs were what caused the massive hole.

I didn't do a DNA test on the coyote so it could have been a tannerite dog or something along those lines for all I know...

Mis-information is running rampant on the fire. This is just another tale from the "Swamp" story.

Recently I advertised a set of Redding dies on the Classifieds. Some dweeb asked if I was absolutely sure they were Reddings. My reply made him mad enough that I had to find another buyer--which didn't take long.

I shot one from the 5 feet last year with a muzzleloader. I was sitting on the ground and the Coyote came straight at me, so I thought I would see how close he would come, at 5 feet I pulled the trigger with the muzzleloader on my lap. I hit directly in the chest and the 250 grain Hornady exited just above his tail.
Almost gutted and skinned him in one shot..

I don't know, I have shot a lot of game with that bullet over the years. Never shot Tank the Coyote with one, its been my observation that You can pretty much eat right up to the hole. 210 Nosler Partition or its all copper version from barnes. And you would be all set for dam near every thing on the planet big game wise. 338 is a little much for things like Coyote's but who am I to judge? Looks like you killed him just fine, now if you were looking for the pelt, then you made a mess!

Quartering shots are not the best. You should always wait for a perfect broadside shot and double lung 'em. Especially at 5 feet. Those narrow profiles ya know....

I bought a bunch of those 210 partitions in nosler 2nds a while back. I'm thinking it'll make a great bullet in my 338 RCM. It's shorter overall length should leave me more room for powder than the plastic tip interbonds I've been using. Plus now I know they'll penetrate at least a coyote. Should be a good all arould bullet at a 2800 fps or so.
