Offered for sale or trade is a super rare Mannlicher Schoenauer Magnum in .458 Winchester Mag. Rifle was built in 1958 per barrel stamp (the first year offered) and is marked Model 1956, Kal. 458. It remains in 98% condition with exception of Silver's type recoil pad which was added later. Adding to the rarity is the original factory Steyr swing-off scope mount and Kahles scope which is starting to turn a purplish color with clear optics. LOP 14", bore perfect, minor stock dings, excellent sharp checkering, excellent blue, bolt face is almost perfect.

I recently acquired this rifle in trade from a member on AR. I jumped at the chance as there just aren't many out there. I'm torn about moving it, but another big bore is superfluous to my needs right now.

Asking $3250 and will consider interesting trades, especially a clean early Mannlicher (1903-1910 Models), original pre-64 M70 in 375, Mausers Type A,B, etc.

Thanks, and feel free to PM or contact me by email: wshear(@)hotmail(dot)com

Hi,
I've heard it referred to as a "swing-off" mount. This was factory installed by Steyr back in the 50s when the rifle was built. I haven't looked for one myself, but would start my search with New England Custom guns. There is probably one made in Germany by EAW, etc that they're importing. I'm guessing cost would be comparable to, maybe a little less than claw mounts. This is a super secure set up; the Mannlicher's split rear bridge required outside the box solutions so no need to get this fancy for a standard double bridge, etc bolt rifle.
