Well, I finally got the 40/65 out to the Outpost of the Empire to do some long range testing.

I didn't shoot it but for a few shots as my shoulder iis still buggerdd, but I took along a young buddy that had never fired BP cartridge befor.
The picture is of Big Jon shooting at 400+ straight across the river.
Accuracy was very good ( about 6") with no grease cookie.
The bank behing him in the picture is over 1,000meters and he plunked 3 into about a #MOA group , which was great considering we had no decen t aiming point!
The scope was cranked all the way, and Jon was holding about 10 feet to boot! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />
Load was 63 grains of FFG with a heavy poly wad and a 400 grain Lyman Snover style bullet, with Fed210's.

I posted this here because this is going to be a hunting rifle, not a real BPCR comp rifle. I have a 45/70 for that.
We just wanteed to see what it would do at the long stuff.
Inside 400 it is going to be deadly especially with the comb pad.

No trout in the lower reaches of the Athabasca, but we have huge Walleye and pike!
Hoever, we had 6 rifles with us, and they all
needed to be shot! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

We spent the whole day on the range, then took off before the downpour.
The river picked up another 6" overnight, but should drop in a week or two.
It is North America's largest freshwater delta, so the water is always prett silty....
