whats to say? She is sweet. Bore is extra shinny. No holes drilled in reciever. Original magazine set-up. Trigger is 3.5#. And just like all model 8's its a takedown. even though I have never had it apart.
Spent the majority of it life stored in a closet. its a shame. Should have been out killing deer.
Serial # places it as a 1910 production.

I have one just like that in almost the same condition. My dad gave it it me about 10 years ago and I think his granddad gave it to him. I have shot a box or 2 of shells through it but never killed anything with a Model 8. I have a hog hunt coming up at the first of the year and I think I might try to get a porker with the 35 Rem. Bump for a classic rifle.

I've got a really nice one in a .35 Rem too, made in 1907. Don't underestimate the accuracy of these rifles - mine will do 1.5" or better at 100 yards with 200 gr. Sierra RN or 200 gr. Remington SPCLs and 37.5 gr. IMR 3031 at about 2100 fps. I bought an original Lyman tang sight (no drilling required) on ebay a few years back and it greatly improved accuracy. Bump for one of my favorite rifles.

Nice snag Mule Deer! I'm glad you bought it. I just now found this listing and I know I would not have been able to resist the urge to buy that beauty even though I have an 8 in 35 rem. about to be shipped to me. I clearly need professional help. :-(

Don't we all!

I've typed in "I'll take it" on rifles in the Classifieds on a few evenings, only to have a little bit of buyer's remorse the next morning. But not on this one....

Had to reply to this: "The prewar tactical rifle"

Buddy of mine had one of these boat anchors, but yeah, the .35rem will kill deer...

Must be the Full Moon...

Thanks for the chuckles, hope ol Muley enjoys the nostalgia... ETA: By the way, ain't "buyers remorse" a hanging offense around this campfire?
