Can you convert a Remington model 7600 to 450 bushmaster?

Different head face, OAL issues, magazine issues. Slapping a new barrel on would be the least of your issues. IMO, it would be cheaper to buy a Ruger American .450 Bushmaster.

Your the first person that I've herd wanting a 7600 in 450 Bushmaster....put a 16 1/2" barrel on it would make a great woods rifle for deer and bear....
It could be possible just use any 7600 that is 243, 308 ect. same size case head....OAL is 2.10" so no problem plenty of space in magazine....will maybe need to modify the magazine so its a single stack, lips on it and a modified follower....

CW, pretty sure the Bushmaster head is not the same as a .473 (.308 case) vs. the .376 (.223 case) head. That's going to be a problem. I'm not aware of any 7600 made in the small head size. The newer Rem 7615 might well be possible though.

I've built 6 - 450 Bushmasters on Savage 10's and 16's use bolts from .473" guns (308)....I use a RCBS #3 shell holder for reloading same as 308, 30-06 ect... 7600 have as far as I know only have had .473" case head bolts except a special run of 35 Remingtons .460" rim .... there were some 222 Remington and 223 made in 760 and 35 Remington ..... 7615 is .376" and no longer made...there have been some re-barreled to 300 BO....

Based on the .284 Win case so rim diameter is the standard .308/.30-06 size. I would think the magazine would be a bigger challenge, but maybe not.

Neat concept. A way around the magazine issue would be to make a 44 Auto mag maximum. Take a 308 case and neck it up to 44 cal, trim as needed for 300gr bullets. Custom dies may not even be needed as you might get away with 444 dies.
