I bought an Ohaus 10-10 from an eBay seller, it was advertized as being in MINT condition. When it arrived everything appeared as described, however when i went to use it I was not able to get it to zero out. I've been using Ohaus 10-10 scales for several years now, this is the first time that I've had this issue. Don't see anything missing or damaged, I'm stumped suggestions/ideas what to do are being sought. Can anyone help ?

Check the cradles where the balance beam pins ride for dirt/obstruction or damage that may cause binding, etc.

Does it have the original bail and pan? A substiution, lighter or heavier than original could impact zero.

There is lead shot inside the pans....underside, take the screw out and shake the out
I had to clean the lead oxide off them bc of the same reason.

Cleaned the shot compartment and fine tuned using smaller shot, a tedious process but I got it to zero like it should. Goes to show when you buy an item used you never know who has phooked with it.

Does it have the original bail and pan? A substiution, lighter or heavier than original could impact zero. This. Each bail and pan is “regulated” to the scale using varying amounts of lead shot in the bail. He may have mixed up parts at some point. I’d zero as best I could. Then add or remove shot from the bail to fine tune the balance. Of course, do this using your check weights included with the scale. If you don’t have check weights, use a bullet of known weight.
You only live once, but...if you do it right, once is enough.
