I owned a Kodiak Safari .72-caliber muzzleloading rifle. I had installed a Pachmyr 1-inch Decelerator Old English recoil pad The coldest I hunted with it was above zero degrees Fahrenheit; coldest winter camp was not colder than minus 10. So I have no experience with what C O L D will do to recoil pad functioning properly afer overnight during a cold spell while camping in winter.
While there are several brands of recoil pads in the genre of my Decelerator Old English pad, is there a cold-induced problem with any? In my youth I remember ventilated recoil pads becoming brittle, sometimes crumbling in the cold. And all appeared to function poorly or not at all as recoil pad, more like plastic butt plate. I anticipate materials have improved.
