I've written starline a couple times in the last few months about producing .300 Savage brass. I'm perplexed as to why they dont?...I assume the demand would be there.
I received a note today nicely written, that said they are of course backed up and wont be doing any new calibers for awhile. But even so, .300 Savage was not on the list of brass they might consider.
Is there really that much brass floating around? Or is it most of us just make it ourselves from .308?.
I wish they would reconsider.

No surprise to me. It’s a small and shrinking market. No new rifles are being made. Most who use it are hunters who fire a few shots a year. And as you say, making your own from .308 should be no big deal. It’s easy for enthusiasts to get carried away about their pets, but a business has to look at the bottom line. Haven’t checked, but dollars to donuts ammunition for the .300 is either already “seasonal” or on its way there. Okay, made me look: https://www.midwayusa.com/300-savage/br?cid=9362

I saw 6 box's of 300 Sav. The other day, at a Amish store. $100.00 a box, in northern Michigan . Looked like new rem. Ammo.
Deer Camp! about as good as it gets!

I’ve bought .375 Winchester brass from them. Hard to believe there’s more of a demand for that than .300.

They would know.
I found brass listed, but out of stock, by Winchester and Quality Cartridge. If it were my problem, I’d sign up for notifications on those and the Remington ammo, then maybe hit some gun shows, or invest in the whatever special dies may be required for making it from .308.
Good luck.

Perhaps Hornady still sells .300 Savage brass.

Perhaps Hornady still sells .300 Savage brass. They dropped it a year or two ago; isn't even listed on Hornady's site anymore.

I would contact Hornady customer service and ask. They used to do "seasonal" runs of stuff like that and may still do, just not catalog it.

I wonder what quantity of any given cartridge needs to be produced and sold to make a 'run' profitable?
Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

I wonder what quantity of any given cartridge needs to be produced and sold to make a 'run' profitable? Hunter at Starline told me it's 50K. I sometimes wonder if they'll ever make 348 Win brass again. They currently have 5M piece orders from Hornady that keep them from running any obscure brass for a while.

While your prompting , see if you can prompt them out of some .25-20 and .218 Bee .

I wish they would reconsider. I got the same response when asking them to make 35rem brass.
It doesn't matter how fast you miss.

While in Greenville Michigan a couple of weeks ago, I went in a store called Hilltop Sports. They had at least a case of new production Hornady 300 Savage and 250 Savage. Was surprised to see it. It was less than $40 a box also.

I bought several boxes a few months ago from ET Brass. Good price but they are old school so you have to call and order over the phone.
Keep moving forward!
