I would put it on Gunbroker and watch how high it goes. A 14 day will let more people see it

Showed pics around a local gunshow, best offer was $1,500 which I felt was a serious lowball. Guys just back from Tulsa said that Colts were not selling that prices were depressed, advised owner to hold onto the gun for a year or so. They felt that by that time prices would have rebounded.

Colt makes 10-shot King Cobra .22. Most asking prices for Diamondbacks are unrealistic. Reduced demand results in stagnant or decreasing values.

It just amazes me how much money Colt collectors will pay, and when condition is like new, they seem to lose all sense of restraint. For intrinsic value, I would say about $1000 because that's what the new King Cobras are going for now, but I am not a Colt collector. Collectors do have the point that they don't make 'em like that anymore. And the greater fool theory...no matter how much I pay, I can find a greater fool to pay more.

So the $3500 mentioned above may not be out of bounds, but I would certainly consider it to be the top of the market, even for like new in the box.

NIB Diamondback .22 is a jewel. Probably North of 2k on GB. Maybe near 3K. Even then, buyer pays tax, shipping and a 1% fee. Seller pays something like 4% commission and has to list, box, ship and insure it. If you bought it FTF for $2000-2200 or so, I think you’d both be doing ok.

It’s always a bit challenging doing business with friends. Whatever price you settle on, enjoy that fine revolver. My wife has a real nice 4in Diamondback 22. We haven’t shot it in a while. Maybe we’ll dig it out if the safe this weekend.

I saw several in Tulsa at $1300-1800. All nice, some with box and some without. Didn’t see any sell.
