those shell holders size the case less and less by increments of 0.002"... the case becomes longer and longer by less and less sizing when going from +0.002" to +0.010' shell holders... This will create other problems not even discussed nor considered here.. Competition Shellholders are not the solution to this problem.... The set doesn't include a "0.000." what is the +0.002 in reference to? Its a hypothetical. They fall on both sides of basic "shell holders", depending on how you set your die. With your average shell holder, you could be anywhere within a few thousandths. Compared to my generic height RCBS, it falls around the same as the +0.004. Tolerances and brand differences matter as well. If you need a set, step it up a notch and get the Area 419 set which includes a -0.002 up to a +0.008". Betty Sue suggested using them to size further down the cartridge. There is no cheating it; sizing further down the brass toward the .200 line also means the shoulder will be pushed back further. It cannot be achieved any other way with the die he has using the Redding competition set. Which is why it doesn't work. He either should check out the Cortina Mandrel or have his chamber fixed.

Don't listen to that stupid-ass advice from Betty Sue. Competition shell holders are designed to control shoulder bump, not size further down the case. You cannot isolate the dimensions from one another. You'll end up moving your shoulder back too far, and it still won't solve clickers. In fact, moving the shoulder back to far can make it even worse because the brass tends to flow around the .200" line as the shoulders expand to refill that headspace gap you created because you pushed those shoulders back further.
Get the mandrel die, or have a smith fix your chamber. Right, i’m fully aware. Which is why I said I didn’t want to grind down my shell holders. Got a Cortina mandrel die on the way. Thanks.

I got a couple hundred pieces of 3-4x fired ADG so it should still have some life in it once the base is re sized, but has anybody really had better results with Peterson or Lapua?

the +0.002" shell holder is referenced to a standard shell holder which is almost always 0.125" (which would be considered a 0.000" holder)....... they get progressively taller deck height by +0.002"....

the +0.002" shell holder is referenced to a standard shell holder which is almost always 0.125" (which would be considered a 0.000" holder)....... they get progressively taller deck height by +0.002".... Have you measured the "standard" shell holder? There is quite a bit of variance.
