I have a few boxes of Barnes 600gr solids that I would like to load up to control the rabbit population around my house. so if anyone has any load info for the 458 win and 600gr bullet that would be great. thanks everyone

For rabbits I would take that 600 grain bullet and load it into a slingshot for close range work!

My copy of the Barnes #3 Manual lists 56.0 - 61.0(MAX) grains of IMR 3031, WIN cases, FED GM215M primers and their 600 grain Barnes Original. An additional load (Barnes recommended powder) is 51.0 - 56.0(MAX) grains H4198, same components. If you get a big rabbit have it full body mounted by your taxidermists and post pictures.

I actually used the 600gn Barnes traditional in the .458 with a load consistng of 72gn of AR2206 for a veocity of 1978fps in a CZ 550 test rifle I was reviewing when they were first released.

If you call, Hodgdon, they will tell you what code number AR 2206 (Aussie Powder) is sold here under in the US. I do not have my reference material with me so am loath to misquote.

I load them in my Ruger .458 Lott, they will smoke a cinder block!!But at 2000fps,I only shoot about 6 or 7 at a session.I would love to shoot a Buff with it.The Barnes #2 book has loading data.....
