Am looking at upgrading the electric trolling motor on my 18.5 foot Lund Fisherman, a fair-sized boat.

After fishing in boats with two folks who have the Terrova (LOVE the electronic anchor feature) it is the motor I am seriously considering but am wondering if the extra price is worth it over the V2 motor. They seem to be nearly the same, from what I have read, except that the Terrova has another 10 ft-lbs of torque.

Anyone have experience with either of these motors?

I've been using a Terrova 80 all this year on my 196 Starcraft (19'9").

I love the thing for autopilot use when trolling (I have a 9.9 Merc Pro-Kicker for main thrust, and use the Terrova for autopilot steering). I go an entire trip of 3 to 8 hours of trolling without ever touching the steering wheel !!

For perch fishing I slowly run with my Merc 150 looking for schools of perch on my fish finder. I have the Terrova deployed, but not running. When I spot a school, I hit the "Spot Lock" button, and immediately shut off the 150. The boat automatically turns around and hovers my boat directly over the school.
