I've got my "sights" set on one, but I want to know for sure If scope rings are available. Anyone know for sure before I buy?

Yes...the Sako dovetail mounts work on the 2400. These are easier to find mounts for than the Valmet 412/512 series, and a lot less expensive to scope.

They're also lighter and faster handling than the 412s. I regret not keeping one of the ones I had.

So tht means Leupold or any other brand mounts for Sako will work? that would make it easy!

I was able to create a filler "shim" so that standard leupold see thru rings will clamp directly to the factory mount on my 2400's so I can see the open sights more easily

Picked up my 2400 Sunday. I'm very happy with it, though I haven't shot it yet. Waiting on some Sako mounts to get here. I have an old Weaver K-3 with a big dot, straight tube scope. I think it will work well on this. Mine is a 222, would love to find some extra barrels for it.

Here is my 2400 put together. I've never put Sako mounts on. Doesn't feel right just tapping them on with a rubber hammer but I guess they hold. Can't wait to shoot it. This one is a .222, looking for a 308 now

I SUSPECT (but of course do not really know) that the .222/12 is a little more common because people were thinking they could be used for turkey hunting (both barrels) which was only becoming popular about when these guns were made. Of course most Eastern states banned rifles for turkey not much later, but there was much gun magazine chatter about using such combos for turkey when turkeys started becoming common in the East.

The .308/12 combination was more problematic because those same states often banned rifles for deer in "shotgun only" areas and a rifled barrel on a combo was considered a rifle, loaded or not.

In the same jurisdictions a Savage model 24 with any rifle caliber barrel can also be verboten during deer season, even a .22LR/.410 for rabbit or squirrel hunting, which is legal during deer season. A plain single shot .410 would be fine, but apparently criminal intent is "implied" by simply carrying a rifled barrel, even if you have no intention of deer hunting.... So the popular "combination gun to do it all" notion was nullified in many cases. GERMANY is less restrictive, for crying out loud!

But it may simply be that people like me who have .308/12s just won't sell them.....
