Im considering selling a JM stamped marlin 336 but wasn't sure what the market value would be. It’s a great rifle but I am always grabbing other ones to hunt/shoot. Im the second owner, it has been shot but its in very good condition, bluing is still nice and shiny, there a few very, very minor surface rust spots that could probably be polished out with some know how. The rifle also has a 4x Marlin scope on it. Any ideas on market value?

Wife and a few church lady's where out yard selling Saturday. She knows I like and buy Marlins. Sent me a picture of a 336 30-30 Bushnell Sport view scope. I told her if under 500.00 buy it. She called me and said come and get it 3miles from home. 450.00 was sell price. Been setting in safe for 30yr the lady said. Husband hunted with it but died 10yr ago. Kids did not want it and son said if you get 450.00 for it take it. Well she got it. Was made in 1976. I say 75% good will make a great woods gun.

That's amazing. I picked up my pre-owned, 80's vintage M336/.30-30 in pristine condition, for $150 back in the eartly 90's. It's not for sale. I did handle one of the new Ruger/Marlins at the Harrisburg show, $1300, and they are worth the price. Beautiful wood and finish. Anyone that's chased whitetails here in the east, (Maine to Virginia), knows that there's nothing like a nice lever gun when it comes to all day carry. Same for the M94 Winchester, ( I have one of each). The .30-30 is actually ideal for deer on the ground . And the M94/M336 just fit so well in hand. It's only money.
