Canadian Mist for me. We can make a (bush)once a month and my usual order is 14 CM,5 cases of Ice (any), and a case of red bota box wine. If perchance I'm in civilization or if someone is flying out and asks if I'd like a bottle,Maker's Mark is my bourbon of choice!
I tend to use more than enough gun

Old Grand Dad and George Dickel (white label) are drinkable but Wild Turkey's about as cheap as I go these days...

W.L. Weller is a good bargain in bourbon.
Famous Grouse is a good bargain in scotch. If you can find it...

That's a bit raw for sipping whiskey, and I don't have a weak palate. I enjoy cask strength Laphroaig neat.

Good stuff as well. *USELESS TRIVIA ALERT* the Grandad portrayed on the bottle is none other than Mr. Basil Hayden, the original founder's grandfather.

All whiskey tastes cheap unless it is Bourbon Whiskey.
That's precisely why I don't like bourbon, and prefer Canadian or British Isles sourced. Bourbon, to my thinking, not only tastes cheap, it smells cheap too..... reminds me of the musty smells of country roadside ditches. But cheap is relative. I see $70 bottles of the good stuff perched high on the shelves and think, "novices"..... you can get Monarch Vodka, R&R, or Jim Beam for 'only' $250 a bottle out in the bush.
Sometimes, the air you 'let in'matters less than the air you 'let out'.

I don't care for the Canadian stuff, really. On the bottom end of the price spectrum (20-$25 per 750ml) I reach for Old Forester, Maker's Mark, or Buffalo Trace. Like them all. For dipping down cheaper than that, I pick Evan Williams.
Now with even more aplomb

I had some R&R when I was bear hunting the last few days at the farm. First time I tried it and it was dang good stuff.
Your recommendations? Evan Williams.. Good stuff IMHO. My choice as well.

Never been a fan of Evan Williams or Jack Daniels, they taste almost identical IMO.
