How might one tighten a loose front sight blade in a mid 20th century Savage 99. It flops around on its pin in the groove in the front sight base. Exactly how this was ever supposed to be tight in the first place is not obvious to me.

Also does anyone make a GOOD copy of the Marbles tang sight for this rifle today?

Originally, there was a small screw holding it down. What's there now?

No small screw that I saw. From what direction does the screw come? From underneath? It seems to be pivoting on a small pin. It is not my rifle, but a friend's and we were shooting it today for the first time. I should have looked more closely but I did not see a screw anywhere.

OK, not sure which type of sight you are talking about now. I thought it was the earlier blade in the groove with the side screw. Sounds like you have the later 2 piece sight. The blade is peened in from the bottom. If loose you have to remove the sight and re-peen.
