They are pretty much ALL Gone now aren't they? Last time I remember reading about them, there were 2 left and both were like 95... Addendum, looked that up... 1 left, 100 yrs old. https://www.stripes.com/news/1-member-of-the-doolittle-raid-remains-as-fellow-airman-dies-1.415959A salute of respect and gratitude...to Mr Richard Cole., Comfort Texas.

Can you imagine just how daring that raid was? We were short on everything at that point early in the war...planes, pilots, ships.....yet, we gambled and sent that brave group almost to deliver a message to the Japs. I've always thought that was one of the bravest acts of WW2.

Great article. Probably 90% of young people under 40 would have no idea of what the Doolittle Raid was.

I've always thought that was one of the bravest acts of WW2. Yep, even just being on the carrier that launched them, it could all have gone south early on and they could have caught and sunk. The other thing is, even if they survived the mission and made it back into allied hands, the war wasn’t over, within that same year many of them were back flying combat missions.
