6x47 Rem is a fun one. (6mm-222 rem mag)

These are all good cartridges I have experience with. The 6.5-06AI is a stellar round with 140s. I shoot the 6x47 more than any of the above just because it packs a hell of a punch in such a small chambering.

I have a .25-35 improved in a Contender - got it from FyrepowrX here on the Campfire. Fun little cartridge loaded with 80 TTSXs.

It's gotta be the .35 Brown-Whelen,I'm on my second one. The first was on a commercial FN 98 with 23" Brownells barrel,it shot quite well.
The current one is a push feed Win. 70 with 23" Lilja SS barrel.This round comes within 5% of a .338 WM and less recoil.
200 gr. bullets for the little ones,250s,280s and 300s for the big ones.

In a Contender the 309 JDJ is the best balanced cartridge for small and large game in a 10” or 14” barrel. Case holds 25 grains more H20 than the 30-30 Win and 12 grains more H20 over the 308 Win. Even with its lower pressure Contender loadings it’s not far behind the higher allowable pressures of the 308 Win speeds with 130, 150 and 165 grain loads.

338-06 without question, possibly the Improved version. Both are excellent.

Basically it is a 405 win case but 3.25 inch long. He had Bertram in Australia make the brass for him. I have it in a Ruger #1. Pushes a 300 grain Barns a bit over 2700 and a 400 grain Woodliegh right at 2400. The big surprise is recoil is not too bad.

I just purchased a 6.5-284 Savage Long Range Hunter and related reloading components are inbound. With factory ammo barely available and $4-5/round does it still qualify as a wildcat?

I only have 1, so it must be my favorite! A 375/350 that I use 235gr Speer and Barnes with using IMR4064. Only paper so far, very pleased with its accuracy.

Have messed with several over the years but currently have just one, 7mm Mashburn.

In FL you really only need a 6mm in 99% of situations. That is unless you run across a big hog then a 30 or 358, but the single shot is not reallly recommended for big hogs or a bunch of hogs at under 20 yard in a palmetto swamp. I killed four hogs in one day in Salem, south of Perry, with a Merill 30-30 single shot 10" handgun, hunting on the ground with the hogs, would not advise other folks to try that. Was interesting.

So really suggest an AR-15 platform with a couple of uppers. Simple, easy and relatively inexpensive. Use the FL designed cartridges for FL stuff.

The folks in Key West (ARP) AR Precision make the TAC 30 barrels, which is a rimless 30 Herrett, based on the 6.8 SPC case, formed and loaded with 30 Herett die's. Works well, I have one.

Guy out of Marianna, FL designed a 6mm to use LC 5.56 brass trimmed and die formed, then fired. It is the 6mm Mongoose. With it trimmed .050 with a blown out body, minimum taper and a 40 degree shoulder it does pretty well with 95-115 gr 6mm bullets in a 15 length magazine.Can be formed with 6 TCU dies. Works well, light recoil. I have one, 80s blow up inside a yote, nice for a pasture.

Then Mad Dog Weapons System sells the GPC line of barrels and dies all based on the 6.8 SPC case. they also sell the 6 Mongoose barrels and dies. There stuff works well, have a couple of their barrels on uppers.
