My dogs, 2 GSP's, 1 GSP/Beagle mix and an Anatolian Shepherd just escorted something off the property. Bear, coyote, bobcat, methhead, who knows. Happens all the time. Whatever it was I could tell they had it handled and didn't even get up to look.

Got me to thinking. Imagine you're a caveman 30 thousand years ago. Everything wants to kill and eat you, usually at night, so you're always looking over your shoulder for the next sneaky bastard trying to infiltrate your property.

Then at some point you get dogs. Finally when the sun goes down you can spend a few hours actually thinking. Maybe designing and making a cool knife or spear. Maybe slip the old lady the lumber in peace. And finally you can get a decent night's sleep.

Domesticated dogs, although second to domesticating horses/cows, have been an amazing help to man no doubt! Hats off to the first wolf to take a piece of meat from a human near a campfire.
