Pulled apart my model 7 to drop a in a new trigger and noticed the bedding is cracked...is this a problem?

It's difficult to see the details, but it looks like the surface in the void is glossy. If that's the case, it looks like an air void when it was bedded.

I agree completely with Bang Pop. Epoxy should be added to the bedding area in "lifts" which are smooth and bubble-free. Several lifts for a foreend, minimum.

Easy fix though. Grind out the crack and a bit of surrounding epoxy/stock. Then work the new epoxy into the ground out area until it is full enough to bed the barrel properly.

Is the barrel free floated? Is the action area crack free?

Pretty easy repair. I use a thin two part epoxy for repairs like that. -Al

Which is why I use an action jack to lift the barreled action straight up and out of fresh bedding. 😉 -Al
