My bird dog and I have made a few friends while getting our field work in lately.
Two big Red Halks have figured out that my WPG tends to get the game the prey moving for them. They just hover and wait..... Sorry for the lousy phone pic.

If those are oak trees in the very back, could be turkey living there. There is a place near Galt that looks like that.

Used to have up to a dozen hawks circle around when we cultivated the fields here in ND. Partridge-grouse- rabbits didn’t stand a chance. That’s why some guys went hawk hunting a lot. Not me of course? Edk

My bird dog club had a designated training grounds just west of Phoenix. Shortly after we parked the hawks began arriving.

Their cousins the magpies aren't dumb either. We have very few crows around here but we're not short of magpies.

The hawks around here follow the tractor when I mow. In the past they would catch something and fly to a tree top to eat it. The cara caras moved in, they hunt in groups of two or three and would mob the hawk and steal it's catch. In just a one year the hawks learned to grab a rat and dive into the thickest brush to hide from the thieves.
